Site Supervision for the Extension of the Vianden Pumped Storage Plant, Luxemburg

SEO, Luxemburg’s national electricity utility, has commissioned LI with the site supervision for the extension by an 11th unit (200 MW) of the Vianden pumped storage plant.

LI had previously carried out preliminary draft and detailed planning permission and prepared tender designs and documents.

The extension works comprise in particular an increase in the storage capacity of the upper and lower reservoirs, conveyance capacity increases for the waterways and a new cavern.

The operating head of the 11th unit is approx. 280 m.

The construction period is estimated at 4 years.
